Does anyone have a list of bolt-on performance modifications that will work on the '03/'04 M45?

Also, what is the engine code?

What other cars share this same engine?

Can't tell you much about the performance mods, but in answer to your other questions:

The engine (in the M45) is the VK45DE.

The current Q45 and the current M45 are both powered by this engine.

The Titan pickup and Armada and QX56 SUVs use a 5.6 liter version of the same engine, called the VK56DE.

The only pictures of the 4.5 I can find are of the stupid plastic cover--which you can see on your car. However, some good pictures of the 5.6 liter can be found here.

For the record... I don't have an m45. Just trying to get some info on it.

The 3.692 diff and big brake kit from a '90-'96 300ZX Turbo will fit on the '03-'04 M45.

As Minister of Doom said, the Y35 (which is the technical name for the US export version of the Y34 Cedric), carries the VK45DE, which is the same engine as the US-market Q45. The Y34 Cedric did NOT carry the VK45DE in Japan in ANY trim, so don't go looking for Cedric parts because all you'll find is VQ30DE and VQ30DET stuff. Rather, go looking for Cima and President parts for engine enhancements.

(obviously, for everything else about the car, Y34 Cedric stuff is the way to go, i.e. suspension, aero, interior, blah blah blah).

Here are some links to VK45DE performance parts. All sites are in Japanese, but you can request any of these items from Bulletproof Automotive, Raretrick, or numerous other vendors.

NOTE: I do NOT know what JDM exhausts, if any, will fit the US 02-03 M45. This engine was never offered with this car in Japan, and so there's no out-of-the-box safe solution. Your best bet is to contact one of the above vendors and have them find out for you, I'm sure they can.

Impul is particularly notable because of their 5.1L stroker kit for the VK45DE, upping power output to 370ps. They also offer ECU upgrades, air filters, and exhausts which may or may not fit.

Check the Impul Y34 Cedric section for aero, suspension, and brakes.

I am not aware of any performance parts for the Gen 1 M's. I have the Junction Produce exhaust, but it was made for the V6 Gloria. Since it is a rear section, we had to make a mid-pipe that served as a collector for the dual exhausts.
