I’m shopping for an 03/04 M45, I drove a 2003 today and was surprised at the amount of understeer. Is this normal with this era M45? If so, has anyone discovered a remedy?
Thanks in advance

Can't speak to that generation but these cars aren't necessarily the best handling cars as it is. You'd need to spend money to get it right.

It is a heavy sedan with a short-ish wheelbase, an ample serving of front overhang, a DOHC V8 engine lying over the front axle, and a battery high up and to the front of the engine bay.
Oh, and McPherson suspension up front.

It is going to have noticeable understeer when driven spiritedly...even out of the box with brand new suspension components.

Don't let that stop you though. They have some popularity as drift missiles.

An opinion: since you're still in the test drive stages of your search, check out a 2006+ M45 and compare its ride and handling.

Thank you for responding. With all the weight up front, that makes sense! I really like the look of the 03/04 models, but I’ll certainly check out the 06 and up
