Just some random thoughts on the transmission, and checking to see if anyone knows the details of how it is controlled.

I notice that when I put the car on manual shift mode, and I begin accelerating from a stop, the throttle response is MUCH sharper if I am starting from 1st or 2nd gear. When I'm not ready for it I tend to spin the wheels. When I start from 3/4/5/D, this does not happen, and it is a smooth gradual build up of power (I'm talking about 0 to about 5 mph).

Having VDC on or off does not seem to affect this response in any way, still much better in 1 & 2, and normal in the rest.

My question is, I would like to be able to have it in this 'sharp' setting whenever I want, not just when starting in 1 or 2. Anyone know of anything?

Also, when I had a G35 sedan loaner, I noticed that in Manual shift mode, the car would automatically go down to 1st when stopped, whereas in the M, you have to flick it down 4 times to get to 1st... this is a bit annoying. It would be nice if we could somehow control how this transmission behaves.

thanks for reading! Here is a pic of my car just for fun

trany in our cars is a problem. i loved g35 trany in a loaner, it was perfect.m 45 is a sportier car then Q, but looks like we ended up with the same trany. iam sure in japan tuner shops they got it under control, but here in u.s. we got nothing.it is one of the reasons i might want to sell mine.let us know if you go to japan to get some parts, i will give you big list.caug.

Maybe you can try disconnecting the battery and letting the adaptive memory reset? I've always meant to try that but never got around to it...

OT: I think Cleveland has the highest concentration of black Ms anywhere My job takes me up there frequently, and I often spot one. I even bought mine at Bedford..back then they had 4 black Ms on the lot.

cheers

Ha! I always thought I was one of 2 black M45s here in Cleveland. I always tell people, "if you see a black M, chances are 1 in 2 that it's me" : ) I seriously see at most three other ones per year of any color. I actually drove to Maryland to get mine!

Interesting about the adaptive memory, I'd like to find more info on this (and how permanent the settings are once 'adapted')
