Just trying to get a general idea.....If you have an 03-04 M45, and have you replaced your motormounts due to failure or significant wear, please post what the mileage was at the time of failure and if you used original or aftermarket mounts for replacement. If aftermarket, have they performed well and held up? If you HAVE NOT replaced them, that would be good to know, too. If you haven't, how many miles do you have?

thanks!

My 2003 M45 motor mounts are still fine at around 124,750 miles. Have not replaced them or anything.

What is the reason for your thread, by the way? Do you have problems with your car, or are anticipating that others will have difficulty too, etc.?

Welcome to NICO, by the way. :yesnod

Thanks for your reply. I wasn't going to post my reason for the question, but maybe that'll help get more responses. motor mounts in my car were determined to need replacement at 109,000 miles . they (warranty company) are denying my claim because they say that it's a pre existing condition. I'm just trying to see what other peoples motor mount longevity has been to substantiate my case. I bought my warranty at 99,700 miles, so they are implying that mine failed prior to my purchasing my warranty, at 99,700. To me it seems really unlikely that they failed prior to that mileage, but I guess anything is possible. I would really appreciate everyone posting their mileage and if they have or have not replaced their mounts. Thanks in advance! Pete

My driver side mount was replaced at 103000 (5 months ago). My mechanic saw that it was broken when replacing my starter.
My State Fam insurance covered the repair since I had a accident on that side of the car a year prior. They had to send an adjuster and all to verify.
I was told that broken mounts can be overlooked easily unless the vehicle is shaking badly.

That's the biggest piece of BS I've heard!!! How the hell can they look at something now and tell you it happened before!?! ...unless they did an inspection when you got the warranty. And if they did, you should have a copy of that stating all the pre existing issues found. If not that sounds like something for an attorney to take are of unless the mount replacements will be less expensive. That's why I hate this warrant crap. I tell you this, I'm going to use every last dollar that my warranty is worth if it's the last thing I do  .

I've just passed 154000 and I still have the original mounts on. No problems with them, knock on wood.

My motor mounts have never broken on any make or model car I have owned. How did you break yours? I have heard of extreme machines breaking mounts from excessive torque, like NHRA dragsters, but a stock engine I have never heard of this happening. Are you sure you did it or is this a bunch of BS by the dealer?

hi guys. thanks for your reply. first of all, after a bunch of haggling, I did get them replaced by the warranty company. I provided a bunch of documents leading upto the time I bought the warranty that offered a strong case against pre-existing condition. Our state inspection for example, includes an inspection of the motormounts. The examiner is supposed to reject for failed mounts, and recommend replacement is ANY damage/wear is visible. I had it inspected 5k before warranty purchase so, there was little for them to stand on. As far as why they failed? I have no idea. Ive had the car since new, and I (like most of you im sure) baby it. I do all regular maint. myself, and have the dealer do everything else. Its never been raced, or driven REALLY hard. I have however had a LOT of things need replacement, such as: exhaust manifold, power steering pump, ENTIRE steering assembly, lower front control arms, sway bar links, ECM, drivers seat tracks, gauge cluster (for fuel gauge), front left strut, and some other things I cant remember. Despite all that, I love the car and will drive it until my wife wrecks it. :) I did see the 2 mounts that were replaced, and they were surely worn beyond use. Thanks again for your help.
