So its time to replace the exhaust system on my X. The muffler has a hole and the main hanger has rusted out and is rattling.

Muffler shops are quoting me $500 to replace everything from the down pipe back. This is damn crazy for a basic system. I could understand if I was asking for a performance system.!

Can anyone share pricing experience?

I'm taking the truck to my long time mechanic to see if he can fab up a system
