I am getting extended crank on this one. Fuel pressure is dropping off when key is off. Pretty much points to a bad pump. But is there a fuel pressure regulator some where I am not seeing? I know it is a returnless fuel system. Just curious where the regulator is. And where do you suggest to get the replacement parts? I called the dealer about the pump. It is almost $400 list price. Thanks in advance.

regulator is part of pump assembly. those cars are famous for long crank or even no start due to flooding. even if you are really really sure its a pump problem try this.

pull fuse or relay for fuel pump.

pull plugs and clean them vigorously with brake parts cleaner.

let cyls air dry for a while(and plugs too).

reinstall plugs.

crank motor for a while(no start due to fuel pump off).

hook fuel pump back up.

start motor(may take some accelerator pedal action, may not).

if no worky, repeat.

I know the fuel pressure is dropping off b/c I hooked a gauge up. It was `60 p.s.i. while running. When you shut it off it drops to 0. That usually points to a bad regulator or pump. I was just curious as to know fuel pump issues with her. I went to a b15 site and found a bulletin for extended crank complaints. Apparently there is a problem with the regulators. There is a regulator replacement kit available, but I am afriad that when I dissasemble the pump it will break. I think I am going to just go with a new pump assembly from the dealer.

Here is the bulletin for those interested in the fix. It has part numbers and instructions on replacement. Enjoy!http://www.nissanhelp.com/Owne...2.htm

Oh yeah, the plugs look fine and there is no signs of fuel soak(like leaky injectors). It does appear to be burning a little oil though (ash deposits). I have seen way worse so I'm not to worried about that right now.

Ya, but try disassembling a plastic fuel pump that has been immersed in fuel for 4 years. I'm sure it is as brittle as all get out. I would consider the kit if the car were newer.
