I couldn't get the o2 test to produce expected results so I put new unit and get same result. Any ideas on my test method or results appreciated : TEST:1 - Engine fully warm (temperature up to normal). Turn on ignition switch (do not start engine).2 - Turn diagnostic mode selector on ECU fully clockwise.3 - Wait a few seconds.4 - Turn diagnostic mode selector fully counterclockwise (MODE-II.)5 - Run engine at 2000 RPM or higher for about two minutes under no load.6 - Check that the inspection lamp (red LED) on the ECU goes on and off more than 5 times during 10 seconds at 2000 RPM.

RESULTS:I hold engine speed to @ 2K RPM for 2 minutes and get no lamp at all, if I blip throttle above 2k rpm the CEL flashes once - thats it. How should lamp "flash five times" - while engine runs or the repeating five long/five short "no codes indication" when ECU testing?.

Car runs well but after when up to temp idle becomes unstable and hunts - sometimes stalls.

Thanks

I had the EXACT same problem. the light turns off when you start the engine, and doesnt come back on at ALL until you turn it off.

totally bogus =/

edit: i take that back. i tried it again and it worked this time. thing is, the light seems to flash totally randomly. that whole flash 5 times in 10 seconds thing is kind of hard to judge, because depending on the block of 10 seconds that i pick, it can flash anywhere from 0 to like 15 or 20 times.

i'm just going to assume my o2 sensor is okay =/

Each time the light changes, it indicated that the fuel mixture went from lean to rich, or rich to lean. I think the light on is lean and off is rich, but it may be the other way around. What you are looking for is that the computer sees that the mixture is lean and adds more fuel until it is too rich, then adds less fuel until it is too lean, and so on. This should happen more than 5 times in 10 seconds. The computer is trying to keep the air to fuel ratio at the perfect point.
