i installed a pacesetter header with a massive 4 into one collector on my '97 ka24e 5 spd pickup. it's having idling/rough running problems, and i've been trying to work it out in another thread. here's my one specific question: the stock exhaust manifold (i believe) housed the o2 sensor right above the collector, where all four exhaust ports met. the pacesetter header houses the o2 sensor on third cylinder pipe. hence, the only exhaust gas it can read is from that cylinder. will that cause problems? curious to know what you think. thanks in advance.please look at pictures of both the stock manifold and the pacesetter to gain visual understanding:

this definitly may cause a problem with your mixture. My advice would be to remove the o2 from that location and plug the bung. have a exhuast shop weld a bung in the pipe coming of the header. Fabricate a small harness to go from the connector in the harness to the connector on the o2. See if this resolves your idle problem.

yes, but then the problem becomes that it is too far removed from the head. it's for measuring o2, which has mostly to do with temperature. if it's measuring too far downstream, it's going to get faulty readings, as much heat is dissipated by the time it reaches the collector.

aww good thought but if I seen your pictures correctly that is a 3 wire o2 sensor which means its heated. In that case it wont matter.

it is a heated o2 sensor. will it really not matter? what does heated mean? if that's the case, then i'll move it for sure. i'm interested to know what the difference is with the heated. . .

the O2 has a heater in it to get it hot. It does not rely on exhuast heat to get hot.
