Folks, I got the SES light yesterday night. Pulled the OBDII reader out and it says P0041. Put about 60 miles on her since then. I clear the code and light comes on the 2nd ignition cycle consistently.
Oil was changed with 5w30 synthetic blend about 300 miles ago. Looking through older threads, it seems like this code also mean bad crankshaft or camshaft position sensor.

Few questions before I throw in the towel and give it to the shop:
1. Can I continue driving while I diagnose the issue? I drive about 100 miles each day.
2. Is there anything I can try swapping between the banks to try and understand which sensor is bad?
3. Is there a diagram that can show me the location of these sensors?
4. More importantly, are changing any of these sensors out or accessing them are real PITA?

Thanks!

Just checked the oil level today morning. Its a tad bit higher than "H" on the dip stick on both sides. Could this be causing an issue?

p1140 is for the bank 1 (passenger side) IVTC sensor, you can try swapping it with the IVTC sensor on the bank 2 (driver's side) to see if the code follows (p1145 is the bank 2 sensor)

The sensors are easy to get to, bank 1 is passenger side at the top front of the engine, bank 2 driver's side near top of engine.

Here is a video, a little hard to understand but it shows where they two sensors are located.

Thanks. I will try to get to swapping it around in the next day or two. Can I drive the car around without harming anything while I try diagnosing this?

Am I looking at the right connectors? They are both black in color (matches the video but he didn't talk about the driver's side).

Both look like they are held by M10 bolts?

How do I take the connectors off?

PS: How do I use the BBCode so that I can post images instead of the URLs?

That part I can help on. Hit the img button and paste the web address inbetween, or type Image In the case of yours it only linked to a page, not an image, so I had to right click, hit "copy image" then use that link to paste between the img labels.

Thanks Mike W. It looks like I am looking at the correct sensor on the passenger side which is the 3 pin connector. However, the connector I was looking on the driver's side is a 2 pin and not the one that seems be the issue typically.
Reading through the FSM, page EC-519 the "INTAKE VALVE TIMING CONTROL POSITION SENSOR" is in reality the 3 pin camshaft position sensor:facepalm:

Where is the driver's side 3 pin connector/sensor located?

Turns out I was looking at the right connectors on both the sides. Swapped them around and the code seemed to follow.
Installed a new sensor on the passenger side bank and so far, after 20 miles and 4 ignition cycles SES is OFF!

Still can't get the image posting link to work :tisk:

Awesome! did you buy an OEM sensor or aftermarket brand?

I ended up with this Intermotor Camshaft Sensor from Advance AutoPart # CSS1592 for $55 with limited lifetime warranty.
The OEM equivalent is part# 237312Y510 for about a $100 at the cheapest and only with 12months/12,000 miles warranty.
