All HID's require ballasts. This is good advice. Does it shut off at the same time period each time? I could also be the lamp. I'd try swapping the lamp first and see if it follows. If it doesn't then try the ballast. Regardless both are a pain to get to and require you to pull the grill and housing assembly for proper access.Towncivilian wrote:I assume the stock HIDs on QX4s have ballasts. Try swapping them around and if your passenger side goes out after swapping, then it's a bad ballast.
You never know. I've had this issue 3 times and each time it was different. First time it was the switch stalk, 2nd time is was a lamp (replaced both) and 3rd it was finally a ballast which I had gotten from a junk yard for $120.Maxima570 wrote:Ok thanks guys I was hoping it would not be a ballast issue, the bulbs are both new from infiniti the guy we bought it from had them replaced last summer, the time it goes off varies but is usually not that long... its probably a bad ballast
It started as one side going off when I hit bump and eventually graduated to both going off. It only happened when going over a bump though, that's how you know it's the switch stalk.Maxima570 wrote:hm i didnt think to check the stalk, and only one headlight went off when it was a bad stalk?
