02 QX4 Front Dif Hose

Hi Everybody, I just finished a swapping out my tired 02 QX4 motor for a 01 Pathfinder (4x2) motor. When I reconnected the dif I forgot to plug in the hose that goes on top of it as I was thinking about the weight of it and bolting it up.

Where does the hose come from? Does it come off the motor or the transmission? If I put in a motor that was a 4x2 I guess it would have the hose?

By "dif" do you mean the differential breather hose?

If so, the hose runs up into the engine bay from the cover of the front differential and goes into a hook-like metal tube at the back/top/center of the engine near the firewall. I would guess the donor engine wouldn't have it.

Thanks for the advice. I'll rig something up with a little filter on it.
