I have a 2002 Q45; when I turn the key the dash lights will not come on, nor will the car crank. I've checked all fuse and relays... everything checked out fine. What could it be...? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How many volts does your battery have? Check your battery cables, they should be a silver or copper-ish colored and check the battery terminals also, they should be the color of lead, Do the terminals have a bunch of white powdery looking stuff or a blue-ish green "corrosion"? check to see if your battery cables are loose. If there is a bunch of corrosion/discoloration, try to clean the contacts (I like to use sand paper to bring out fresh metal on the cables and terminals)...after all that and it still doesn't work then try jump starting it from another running car battery....careful doing that if your battery is dead...if still nothing happens then I suspect a short in a wire somewhere

Thanks 94Q45Beast. I've replaced the battery and checked all terminals. The ground terminal was loose. There wasn't any corrosion or discoloration. I sanded and cleaned the terminals anyway just to be on the safe side. I haven't tried jump starting it yet. Would a loose ground battery terminal cause a short in a wire somewhere...?

When the negative ground terminal is loose, the electronics of the car draw a higher amperage which creates heat and thus shortens the life, the ground circuits can/will short out other circuits if not protected in some way, if a power and ground circuit shorted (touched) BEFORE the electrical part of the Q, the result would be a spark, the fuse or breaker should do the job but in some cases burnt wires can be the result and the part can be destroyed as well. If the ground is shorted after the device to anything other than another ground wire, the device's performance is greatly affected. From crackling in speakers, to a light that will not turn off when intended (had this problem with the head lights), to poor performance....I dealt with wiring issues like this on my 94.
having good grounds to the body of the Q is important because poor grounds cause voltage drop. The consequence of this voltage drop is that the systems in that circuit can malfunction.....its all physics
