Does anyone know the spec's on the OEM sub-woofer in the rear deck?

I know it's a 12". But is it 1 or 2 ohm?

By the way, if anyone thinks they can just change out there factory Bose speakers to "A Better Name Brand". Think again!

I changed out my front door 6 1/2" speakers to some Infinity 6022i 2-way 90w 2-ohm speakers? No where near the bass or power of the Bose.

I put the Bose back in.

My friends on SoundDomain forum were right."With Bose OEM systems, it's either all or nothing".

You either replace the whole system of just stick with the Bose.

Now I'm going to try and just replace the sub.

What can I say? I'm a slow learner.

Generally cones are cones and what counts is the weight and gauss strength of magnet and the coil design to avoid over heating [liquid cooled].

The problem is the internal equalizer in amps are different and designed to complement the frequency response and SPL curve [efficiency] of a SPECIFIC speaker. Swapping in another unit will require you to redesign the equalizer in amplifier.

Same with enclosure volume which has to do with stiffness of the cone surrond and the magnet field gauss.....................changes can blow the cone right out of speaker without physical compensation [acoustic dampening].

SPL is defined as acoustic power out at a specific distance for 1 watt input, changing a speaker with a 3 db lower SPL will drop perceived sound level significantly.

Important to learn the 8 parameters that define a speaker electronically.

Remember in the case of an amplifier or speaker the 2 ohms is an Impedence not a resistance so it cannot be measured with an ohmeter and the impedence varies with the frequency applied to speaker and how it's self resonance varies with the enclosure used.
