'02 Q45 Struts... Can I replace the cartridge?

Am I lucky... Can I replace the strut cartridges on my '02. Or, do I have to replace the complete strut assembly?

Not sure on that but I did do research on the Q and it is almost 100% exactly the same suspension as the Z unbelievably. You can even buy the Z struts at Nissan dealer and use them. Check out the schematics on nissanestore.com and infinitiestore.com and compare the whole assemblies. Crazy. Who knew the Q = 4 door V8 Z.

You can buy the struts separately. If the springs are still in good condition they don't need to be replaced.

You'll need to get a set of spring compressors to take the struts apart but it's not hard to do. Lots of autoparts store will let you use their compressors for free.

Make sure you get new bushings and strut covers, both available cheaply on eBay.

Strut sets coilovers bags and etc are going very cheap in japan for later model cimas and f50s. Yahoo auctions japan i see them daily. If you have access or enough experience to do overseas transactions i fully recommend trying. Shipping has gotten relatively cheap also with sea options. I have had small pieces like keys bushings etc arrive in 3 days and cheaper than coming from the west coast. Source parts from the true OEM

Thanks for the replies! I need to get these failed struts taken care of. I really want to go with an airbag system that will allow height and damping adjustments.

I'll be researching the Japan auctions to see what I can find.
