Any reason given by said dealer?

Be certain it has the throttle/TCM update.

Examine the Infiniti Dealer Performed service history. YOu hsould see it and confirm the 3,750 OCI. Walk away if you cannot.

I went and got the service record for the car which was from 218 miles to 99k...1st oil change was done at 6k miles and all the complete services were done on time from 15k- 75k. transmission was replaced at 316 miles lol...crank/cam sensors replaced, idle pulley replaced, power steering system flush. BG syn transmission flush & replace drive belts at 54k. The service advisor said it seems like the car was well taken care of with all the stuff that was done to it. My only concern now it that Y pipe issue.

I walk away, a dealer is telling you it needs a new Y pipe, unless your head over heals in love I'd ask the dealer to fix that and then you'll buy it, if not walk away.

im not buying it from dealer im sorry, im buying from a private guy i just took it to the dealership to have it checked out. They didnt even check the Y pipe issue, it just came on the service record that they recommended it 6/08. I would think since that would possibly affects emissions related parts and would have thrown a cell but there are no trouble codes..

Every used car [out of warranty] for sale needs at least $3,000 in repairs. The SHOCKS are worn at 60k, all the rubber in suspension bushings is not like brand new.

Why7.5 year old cars are only worth less than 20% of new MSRP.6 years old ~ 25%9 years old ~ 12.5%

THe two cats feed into the y pipe which is mated to the resonator. The resonator then ys out to the two smaller mufflers that dual into the last 'suitcase' muffler. There are not enough mounting points along the route and the y closest to the cats takes a lot of stress right at the front on the resonator. I have 175k on my 02 and I had a slight leak there. You do not have to replave the whole y flange to flange. An average muffler shop can fix the problem for 100 bucks...max. mark

turns out ti wasnt the Y pipe there is a leak in the driver manifold so they think its either the gasket or a crack....either way if its the manifold i hope i can do it myself because there isnt alot of room to work on that side

You don't want a DIY on this.

Have the seller get it repaired at the dealer or walk.
