I have the original 02 DVD nav disc. Very few roads are available in my area. Does anyone have a newer version that could send me a copy? (would pay for DVD and shipping plus a little extra)I know I could buy one for $120. I would rather buy someone a six pack if they could make me a copy of the latest [email protected]

My understanding is the DVD was not updated, any "new one" you purchase is just a copy of what you have.

EDIT: Oops, my bad . I was thinking of the previous gen Q45 with a CD based Nav and it was only updated once. I'll hush now.

I have an updated DVD, but I'm not sure if version 6.3 or 6.4.

I can check tomorrow and let you know. I would be willing to send a copy to you.

Is this an easy update to do yourself? Where is the DVD player in the '02 Q45? Living in suburban Phoenix, a 5-6 yr old map isn't much good!

Will a copied DVD work or do you need to have an original?

More than likely it is a DVD ROM which is dual layer. To copy it you would need a DL burner and be able to copy the disc as two images, one of the first layer and one of the second layer, and burn them accordingly. This is assuming the nav program is as much of a pain as others. It is not an easy task but it can be done. If not why would anyone ever pay $120 if it was so simple.

I looked into doing this a while back when I wanted an updated navi DVD. Some nav systems aren't as picky and you can just straight copy the dual layer, the only down side is it will usually split the top layer and bottom layer in a different area than the original and can cause some nav's to "error." Hopefully this is plain english enough.

However if the Q45 Nav discs are not dual layer please ignore everything I just said. :D

I just checked the size of the disc and there is 7.78 GB of data. I had no idea that these discs were so large!

I would be happy to help you out if you can provide me with a DVD-DL. Let me know if want to proceed...

If possible, I would like to also jump on that wagon. Can we make some kind of arrangement?

How does this sound?

I can buy dual layer DVDs from Staples for about $5.00 each. How about a total of $15 that will cover the cost of the disc, postage, and my time to make the disc?

Let me know what you think...

My trip was cut short, so I actually had time this morning to make the "back-up" disc for my navigation DVD.

It worked!

I can now safely keep my original DVD in a safe place and use my back-up copy in my car...

Got disc today. Did it work when you tried it in your car? I tried it in mine and all I got was the infiniti intri screen with a yellow bar underneath it. At first it says wiat....then the yellow bar goes blank and nothing happens. When I put back the origanal disc it loads right up. I tried this multiple timesw

When I tested the disc in my car prior to sending it to you, the archived disc did take about 10-seconds longer to load.

When the archived disc was inserted, I saw the "Infiniti" screen with the yellow "Wait" bar. This screen would be there for about 10-seconds, and then the screen would refresh without the yellow bar and the map would appear.

I have a 2003, so I am not sure if there are differences in the DVD-ROM players for these cars. I would suggest you try again to see what happens...

I hope it works!

The reason why your nav DVD copy isnt working properly is because you have the old software, when you buy the upgraded dvd they send you and upgrade cd and then you put in the new DVD so it can read it out of the box it will not. When i bought the 6.5 nav update 2 mos. which is from oct. 05. It would not read the DVD up front had to do the upgrade 1 st, if you would like i can see about copying the upgrade CD for you.

Guys, you need a Program disc before any upgraded Discs will work.

You buy a copy from Zenrin. They send you 2 discs. 1 program 1 navigation. You put the Program disc in the car, it does its magic, then it asks for the navigation disc.

This is the only way I have been told you can upgrade the system.
