ABS lights all lit up. Before heading to dealership, was wondering if I could read the code out through self-diag. Hoping for a busted sensor that I can easily replace at home :)

Do you have a copy of the F.S.M. (Factory Service Manual)?
If not, you can download it here:

This chapter from the F.S.M. may help you with your ABS issue:

Bit confused about self-diag procedure. On page BRC-41, 42 it mentions grounding terminal both #8 _and_ #9 to initiate the diagnostics . Is it correct or is a typo ? Which terminals need to be grounded ?

try checking your brake fluid first if not full it will eliminate abs, vdc, traction . yes there is a self check but really confusing. id tried it before. you will need to count the 2 second itermitent pulse and 1 second pulse.

Per wiring diagram on page BRC-16, DLC pin 9 is for diagnostic. So any mention of pin 8 is a typo. Once you get the connection right, you must make sure you read the correct code (explained in the procedure) and use the trouble code to isolate problem.
