Greetings friends..I am interested in adding an I-POD to my current stereo. It is the stock system w/ the Premium Package (Navigation). The question is: Is this a very simple to attach accessory or does/should it require professional installation and at what cost? I am not much of a self-installer .. ..ThanksHaggis

Hi there,

It seems like you may have answered your own question. The Q has a very complex electrical system, and if something goes wrong it would be better if it was caused by someone else. The audio unit requires a decent amount of work to access. You may want to think about taking it to a reputable installer. It will cost a bit but the piece of mind and quality install should be worth it. Just my 0.02

What type of integrator did you get?

You can get an ITrip adaptor for IPOD and then listen to it on FM radio.

I've used a few FM transmitters. In my opinion, they suck fetid pus and are not worth 2 bucks. I'd rather listen to Homie's deuce and a quarter at the stop lights.

I am fortunate enough to have a '99 which has a cassette player. I use a sony cassette/ipod adapter and it has fantastic sound as compared to the transmitter. Not as nice as the aftermarket direct wire unit for sure. But 3 bucks and no install versus 175 and pulling the head unit made it a no brainer for me.

I suspect that the 02's do not have a cassette, but for those of you with Dinocars I have found the Sony Cassette adapter to be a wonderful and welcome bridge.

Party on Wayne.

02's have a cassette player... big as day right under the radio. Then in '03 Infiniti figured out that nobody had listened to cassettes since the mid 90's so they swapped positions and put the CD changer in the dash, and hid the cassette player in the glove compartment.
