My '02 Q-45 has an intermittent starting problem. Sometimes twisting the key to start position only produces a click. When this happens
I have to make sure windows are up, pull key from ignition switch, lock car, unlock button 3 times, insert key turn to ACC then start
and it will start. Any body else experiencing these problems? I have not taken it into the dealer yet to have it diagnosed.

Check your battery and terminals, Just replaced my starter last week. $142.99 rebuilt lifetime warranty. All is well now. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the reply. I hope it is something that simple.

Not just for terminal tightness. This problem is also caused by corrosion under the cable sheath. If the sheath is swolen, mis-shapen or rigid, it might have corrosion farther up from the terminal. If so, replacement is called for.

Historically 7 years [100k] is when things start failing from wear and tear........abuse,etc.

The pretty much free ride [under $1500 per year for M & R] is now history.

So few 2002 were sold/produced that it is truely a rare vehicle compared to any year 90-96 and even the 07-01. Something like 2500 were eventually sold over the following few years.
We have only 4 - 2002 customers so insufficient numbers to get statistics.

Gee, now you've got me thinking..

I bought an '02 Q445 this January with 47K miles and paid a fair price for it as second owner. Been driving it regualrly since then and now have 54K. I had planned on driving it for a couple years and selling it.

Are the '02-'06 rare enough to baby it or should I just enjoy it?

Not sure RARITY has anything to do with resale value unless something is very unique...........since they didn't change the body style until termination, who could tell a 5 year spread?

In it's history neither the Q or LS have resold for much above standard value based on years/mileage.

The only thing unique is the superior MPG vs 03>06 due to economy rear end ratio. But 1-2 MPG superiority won't hold well with $4 gasoline.

Hi John M,

I've had a similar problem occasionally with my '03 (55k mi) during the past year. On the rare (but always embarrassing) occasion it acts up, it produces a rapid loud clicking from under the dash passenger side. But the starter won't turn over. Battery, cables, connections all check fine.

Jumping will activate the starter and car fires up. But recently I learned to just wait, go away, and eventually it solves itself much like your solution.

Other than that, pretty smooth sailing since I bought the Q at 10 months new. And the car looks great, just clayed & Zaino'd and always garaged. :dblthumb:

But it could use new front brakes. Any suggestions on longer lasting rotors? Is Centric the best?

Hi Scott
Took the Q ship in and the starter was bad, now have replacement and all is well. As for your brakes I don't know I'm not to that
point yet. Good luck...
John
