My 02 was on a small hill not in gear (standard) brakes and parking brake off and wouldn't roll forward. I jacked up rear, removed and replaced brakes drums, cylinder and springs thinking they were sticking. When everything was off and truck was in neutral, the rear hub wouldn't spin. Where is the problem?

Did you have both wheels off the ground?

If so, what I would do in this case is unbolt the driveshaft from the rear differential and spin each one: the driveshaft connected to the transmission, and the differential connected to the wheels. That will narrow things down for you.

Could it be a limited slip diff? That wouldn't spin as easy, and not at all by hand if one wheel was on the ground. Does it drive? How cold is the weather there, cold oil/grease can be almost glue like at times.

Lots of reasons you might have significant “rolling” resistance.
You seemingly ruled out brake drag, now you need to check bearings, u-joints, rear differential, and output shaft parts.
Oh yea, does not take much of a bend in a axle tube..

At least now your aware there is a problem, as noted above, disconnecting the flange at the diff will allow for you to quickly tell if the issue is behind the u-joints.

No real point in speculating, your going to have to remove parts to figure out what’s dragging, but at least check if there is fluid in the differential before going too far.
