First off I know nothing about installing systems in cars but I am thinking about doing one in my truck. I am thinking about getting the JL stealthbox but have no idea how to wire it up. I want to keep the stock bose system so any tips on keeping this relatively simple would be great. Thanks.

Get a converter like a PAC-AOEM1. This unit attaches to the back of the factory headunit and will give you 4 RCA outputs (factory speakers will still function). You can use those to go to the amp/stealthbox. Alternatively, if the amp supports line-level inputs, you can take the wires directly from the factory sub and run those into the amp.

Please, please, please atleast upgrade the speakers if you're going to add an amp/sub.

That would be the next logical step, followed by a new headunit. If I did not have my pre-amp, I would have replaced my Bose HU a long time ago.

If it wasn't a major pain in the *** like it is with the Bose system I would. But since it is and I don't mind the Bose system I am leaving it alone.

Actually, you can tap into the factory wiring. It's not that bad...
