I am looking to increase the AM reception in my 02 Pathfinder with a stock stereo without putting a new stereo in. I am in upstate NY and I am trying to get a station in NYC. I get it in some places up here but its very intermittent and at points the farther north I go the better it is. Is this even possible or should try another route.

Would a booster like this work?

That is the case for am. The clouds, ionosphere hills, buildings play havoc, it is not only line of sight but rebound.

Your vehicle may actually have two antennae, in the glass windshield and that post on the fender.

These two have a decent gain but hills and terrain play with the signal. A booster may or may not help, it will take trial and error.

Can you find your station with FM or satellite radio? It will cost you.

Assume your talking about the Bose (Clarion) 6 CD changer system. If your are, good luck. I had the same system in my 01' Pathy. The volume control by knob failed and then the 6 CD changer crapped out. I junked the whole system an installed a Pioneer system with CD and Bluetooth. The AM reception (for who cares)alone is better then the factory unit. AM reception is based on proximity. Power for many is shut down at night.

I am also interested in any way to boost fm radio signal. I dont know any way how though. Driving through long stretches of rural Canada is spent mainly searching for decent signal.
