there is a tool but it could be as much as 50 bucks from a snap-on or mac tool guy. i never bought one and i've been a car stereo installer for 15yrs. not lazy or cheap but i use a pair of thin needle nose pliers. as long as you don't overtighten you won't hurt anything. or try looking at harbor freight they have really cheap tools if you only expect to use it a few times. i had to change one on a 4runner and had to remove the rf tire and inner fender liner plus i had to almost remove the fender itself. you may have to remove the motor, take the cover off, and take out the broken part of the mast that may still be partially wrapped around the gear. had to on a few nissans and hondas. good luck
