Replacing the orig power antenna, motor still works, so bought a new mast on Ebay.

Assuming the chrome piece with the 2 small holes in the top is a nut that must come off to remove the mast? How do you remove this nut? Special tool?

Thanks

there is a tool but it could be as much as 50 bucks from a snap-on or mac tool guy. i never bought one and i've been a car stereo installer for 15yrs. not lazy or cheap but i use a pair of thin needle nose pliers. as long as you don't overtighten you won't hurt anything. or try looking at harbor freight they have really cheap tools if you only expect to use it a few times. i had to change one on a 4runner and had to remove the rf tire and inner fender liner plus i had to almost remove the fender itself. you may have to remove the motor, take the cover off, and take out the broken part of the mast that may still be partially wrapped around the gear. had to on a few nissans and hondas. good luck

i did what coastal did i removed with some pliers and a rag around the grip so i wouldnt harm the chrome, but if your truck is like mine the fender might need to come off to replace that. I bought a mast along time ago and didnt bother doing it simply because i hardly listen to the radio and the reception is fine even without the mast.
