Has anyone every done this with LED strip lights??
I've googled the crap outta this, and can't seem to find an R50 with this install done!

Is there a way to tap into some wiring OTHER THAN making a switch so that they go on/off with the dome lights?
Is there a connector you can purchase like this guy did http://www.pathfindertalk.com/forum/ele ... ite-2.html for his Altima?

I have an '02 Pathfinder LE.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks.

I've not done your exact project, but I added LED pods to the liftgate that are circuited through the rear dome light, which comes on with interior lighting when not in the Off position. Concept would be the same for your project though, though I don't know if there's a better location than the dome light to pull the signal from.

I modified my rear dome light to have a pos/neg pigtail on it, and just ran those wires to my LEDs. This puts the LEDs under the control of the rear dome light switch, so they mimic the dome light under all conditions (the exception is that each LED has integrated on/off switches, and I usually keep them off). The modification entailed drilling out two existing rivets on the circuit, making two wire leads with ring terminals, and riveting them back into the circuit.

My original plan was to just put a relay on the dome light signal and feed in another 12V source, but the problem is the smart entrance control unit...it leaves a 5V signal when the lights are off.

I have pics somewhere of the dome light that I'll try to post up, but otherwise I can pull the dome light down and get new ones.

Karona could be a good resource for what you're looking for.

I'm always impressed by this forums ability to be helpful and refer to previous posts!

As for the OP, I would agree with the person who first replied to this thread, the only way I can think of would be to wire it from the dome lights.
In my project, as you can see in the link Atraudes posted, I've wired it to a switch on the dash (which is exactly what you're not interested in).

But the footwell lighting came out quite nicely, Both the driver's side and passenger side have a nice flat area that is perfect for sticking an LED strip on so that it directed downwards at a nice angle for lighting without anyone seeing the source (unless you lean down and look ofcourse).
As for the backseat, it was not as nicely mountable. There are 2 hinges for each of the folding seats, I essentially attached the lights to this and surprisingly they have been holding quite well, and still allows full functionality of the folding seat.

I used 4 LED strips with 15 LEDs each, something like this;
