Yesterday I was stuck on a major highway due to an accident ahead. It was stop and go gridlock for awhile. While i was sitting with my foot on the brake, my car felt like it was movi g slowly forward. This happened 2x...It was really weird, then a thirdtime it did the same thing and I tried to throw the gear into park...but too late..I hit the truck (18 wheeler, mind you) in front of me. The people in the car next to me look astonished that this could happen (as was I!!)...a guy pulled up next to me and said he saw my brake lights on and couldn't beleive it happened. What could have casused this? Of course my dealership can't find a thing wrong...but I know what happened...it was bizarre, and now have a huge body shop expense and will be afraid that it will happen again!!!

Any ideas?

thanks!

Stop and go traffic on a hot day can cause brake fluid to boil...was it a hot day? How are the pads? This is pretty rare though, and very surprising on such a new car. Moisture in the fluid can have a dramatic effect on boiling temperature--I would have the fluid tested for boiling temp. Beyond that, boiling fluid is hard to diagnose, cause it condenses once it cools. Does the reservoir look like it has overflowed at all? My last guess would be a defective brake system.

I'm not sure about the overflow-it went straight to the Nissan dealer. they tell me the computer detected that nothing went wrong..now I'm the idiot!! I guess I'll suck it up, pay my deductible and hope it doesn't happen again.thanks!!
