02' Maxima srting issues

First post, great site...
02' Maxima automatic with 175000 miles, with intermittent starting issues.
Go to start the car and i will just get a click, no starter engagement, battery checks out good everything else works fine. Occasionally it will fire right up the net time but then there have been a couple times where it might take a few minutes. Happens both when the car is cold and warm. I am thinking that the solenoid is wearing out. ANy thoughts comments and advice would be helpful.

I would be inclined to agree with you about it being the starter.

You can take it out and have it checked by a parts store, but I have little confidence in most of those places these days. I took a starter to a local parts store and had them test it. They said it was fine. Put it back in the car and got about two more starts out of it before it crapped out.

Check and make sure connections are clean and tight

I had great results when I had my OEM starter rebuilt for $79
Car was down an extra day or two though
