Hey I'm gonna be modding my maxima. I'm not looking for forced induction at this point. If I do I will supercharge it. But for now I wanna do bolt ons. I was wondering what people on here have done performance wise to there maximas.I'm ordering an intake within the next day or two. I have a afc neo that i'm not sure if it can be used. I was hoping to stay sumwhat stock with the exhaust because I don't wanna be heard and harassed by the local police. Anyone have any ideas.

Headers will give you the most bang for your buck. Next I would say the rest of the exhaust system. As far as intakes, I would recommend Frankencar. I was always big on suspension, since the Max produces unequal power for the stock suspension. Upgrading the suspension, will allow you to use more of the power that is now unusable. If you have the autotragic transaxle, a VB Mod (shift kit) will do wonders.

Frankencar is where I was gonna order the intake from when i go to purchase it it says they are not currently accepting paypal. Ill e-mail them later. What headers do yo recomend? I had pacesetter and OBX on my 240sx which did wonders but have no experience with the maxima headers. How do you think it would sound with headers and y pipe but stock from then on?

I've been wanting to buy a FrankenCar intake for over a month. The reason why I hadn't even attempted to go through the actual purchase process was because I needed some questions answered first. I emailed them about a month ago and have called several of their contact phone numbers as well (1 was disconnected, and I left a voice mail on two of the others). I have gotten no response from either attempt to communicate with them (phone or email). This has caused me to delay my purchase attempt, because I figure that if they are this slow/poor with Customer Service now (before purchasing any of their items), then they might be the same (if not worse) in case you need to contact them if/when you experience any problems after purchasing their item. I just attempted to complete the transaction of purchasing their intake and was also presented with the following:

I'm at work now, and break time is almost over. I'll look into it this afternoon, and see what I can find out.

intake, exhaust and headers and test pipe is a must. just dont be cheap with the headers. u get what u pay for. i dont know about intake cuz i have a custom one w/ this stainless steel air filter where u can actually hear the air being sucked in....almost sounds like a supercharger....

and yes if u have a auto...get a transmission cooler and vb mod

transmission cooler can be picked up from Stillen.com

BTW I thought frankencar was out of business for a while? At least a year or so... Only way you can buy their intake is from another member. Look around the classifieds and you might be lucky!

If you can't find frankencar the next best thing would be one from cattman. They're like the "place racing" intakes which unlike the injen sit near the fender instead of in front of the radiator.

For headers check out Cattman they require the least amount of modding for fitment of o2 sensors. If you can find a set of Hotshot headers, they are a bit cheaper with the same performance as cattman. They're harder to find though.

Best of luck to ya!

u can get the transmission cooler from ur local auto store for about $40.

the VB Mod (Valve Body Mod) helps ur transmission to shift quicker and firmer without the delay between gears that autos have. thus eliminating the chance of ur transmission slipping. some transmission places do it....price range from $300-400. you should call around.

i paid $850 for my cattman headers. they are very good but expensive. hotshot headers were the best for cheap but they went out of business. DO NOT get OBX or ssautochrome headers or any of that cheap stuff. if u do decide to go with cattman...get the o2 sensor simulator. its about $25 extra. b/c there arent any bungs for the back o2 sensors....so u will need to relocate them.

as for intakes, i heard that berk technology intake is very good. u might want to check them out also.

while ssautochrome may be cheap in price...i have absolutley loved their product! i purchased their header/y-pipe combo package a little over a year ago and have never had the slightest problem with any of it! the sound is awesome and the gains were really good too!! id definately do it over again!

I think it's the same thing that the 4th genners do called the "DrMod"

They say it allows the transmission to shift at higher rpms. Only thing is it's bad when you're not driving WOT (Wide Open Throttle).

How are your times 1sexyleo also how has the VB held up?

Why does a VQ30 auto transmission need an auxiliary cooler?

I have it installed. Nice low end gains, lost those with the Injen it's nice to have it back A little bit more torque not too noticeable though. Haven't tested if it keeps the IM cooler though. Don't have any temp measuring tools.

Not hard to install just about 2 1/2 hours. With air tools. Without air tools say 3 1/2 hours.

Since it's installed in the IM makes the car sound cool almost like a small supercharger installed lol.

I haven't dyno'd my car before, but would like to see what kind of difference it made.

This VB mod, does it reduce reliability for the transmission or create any error codes?
