I have an 02 GLE Maxima. All of the sudden it will not rev over 2000 rpms. I read other post that said that it is possibly due to a defective MAF. The codes they gave me at Auto Zone were P0455 Evap large leak detected, P1146 Ho2S12 minimum voltage not met, P1102 bad maf and P0138 o2 sensor in bank 1 is too high for current operating conditions. Would replacing the 02 sensor and maf resolve the other 2 issues? Is this something that someone with minimal mechanical skills can do or is it just better to take it to a shop? Thanks in advance.

Your engine is in safe mode thats why it won't rev over 2k rpm I'm gonna say all those codes are MAF related. Although the new maf is not cheap it is an easy diy fix just unbolt the old one from the airbox and bolt the new one in plug it in and reset the ECU and you should be good to go.

Ok thanks. One more question, how do I reset the ECU?

Disregard previous post. I found instructions on how to reset ECU. Thanks again.

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)5. Wait about 10 second.6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).8. Turn ignition switch to offTiming is critical use a stopwatch the last time I had to do it it took like 20 tries so be patient. Oh make sure the car is at regular opperating temp before trying and this will also clear all your codes. Good luck

I just ordered the part and should get it Tuesday. I'll update on how it goes.

I just got the part this morning and am happy to report that the engine is now running beautifully. It was such an easy fix, I'm glad I decided to do it myself. The MAF only cost me 176 + 24 for overnight shipping from partsgeek.com. I had trouble reseting the ECU but it was due to me not doing step 2a and 2b correctly. You really have to pump the accelerator quickly. Thanks again for the help, great site. I definitely saved alot of money by coming to you all here first.

I would recommend NOT cleaning the MAF even though otherswould disagree. It is fragile part (very thin wire inside easily broken)

My check engine light is back on again and getting P0138 and P1146 codes. I'm going to go ahead and replace the O2 sensor. From what I've read on other post this is supposed to be after the CAT and 4 wire, please correct me if I'm wrong. I have found a couple different options, either with connectors or without. Is it worth the extra 40 bucks to get it with the connectors? I am not a mechanic by any means but money is pretty tight so I want to do the replacement myself. Thanks in advance.

I had the exact same problem. I have an 85 Nissan 300zx Turbo and was is a fender bender. My car was obviously in fail safe mode. Mechanic wanted to charge me $85+ to run a diagnostic. No way. Autozone wouldn't help with a nearly 30 year old car. I was desperate & I needed to fix my baby. After reading/watching videos and posts this is what I did: I bought a new Throttle Position Sensor from Autozone ( $65 ) and some electrical grease ( a buck or so). Looked up where the dang this is online and swapped it out for the new one while putting the electrical grease on the not so new connectors. It still wouldn't rev 2000 rpm's. Then I disconnected my battery for nearly an hour in attempt to reset my ECU. Nothing still. I disconnected battery again then also disconnected the MAF Sensor connector 10 minutes or so. Started the car and rev'd & rev'd, no change it would just stall at 2000 rpm. I got frustrated and reconnected the maf. I turned the car back on and while in park I rev'd the engine again...it went above 2000 rpm! I couldn't believe it so I drove around the block to be certain. It is now working perfectly. I hope this helps some!
