2002 Nissan Maxima:

car is completely stock. have had a lingering SES with 0335. I was told I can replace sensor myself and should fix the problem. I was also told the car *might* need an ECU reprogram with a new sensor.

car starts and pretty much runs fine with original sensor and SES light on, but I failed emissions cuz of it, obviously. I replaced the sensor today, and the car won't start. any idea why? I'm assuming it might be because of the ECU reprogram thing, but not sure.

the sensor went in fine, the plug mated perfectly, no bent pins, etc.

Have you had your vehicle checked for recalls? There was a recall on your engine sensors a few years back. If you don't take your car to the dealer often then recall may be open. If your engine started with your old sensor and will not start with the new sensor, then you likely have bought a bad sensor or have caused the problem installing it. Check the pins to make sure they didn't get bent. Also there is a bracket on the crank sensor for the O2 sensor harnesses. If you bolt it on the wrong side of the sensor there will be too large of a gap between the sensor and the tone ring. Make sure the bracket is bolted on the outside of the sensor.
