02 max service engine soon light

i have a 02 maxima, it has 38000 miles. recently the service engine light has come on. But what is strange is the it is barely on. Crazy right! When I hit the brake it gets a little dimmer and thenbrightens up a little . You can only see the light at night because it is very light. Does any one have any answers please help
