Hi all, I have a 2002 Infiniti I35 with around 90k miles on it. A few days ago, the Automatic Air Conditioner unit completely stopped responding. I can feel a bit of air coming out, but the instrument panel that controls the A/C has stopped responding. All the lights are lit and the display is frozen. I cannot control it and pushing any button does nothing. So I took it to the Nissan dealer and they said I need to replace the "Climate Control and A/C Amp." I have no idea what exactly that entails but the estimate they gave me was around $900. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Is this really the issue with my car? Is it possible to buy these parts cheaper somewhere else? $900 is a lot for me at this time.

Thanks,Grace

I would find out what the dealer means by "climate control and a/c amp." The amplifier shouldn't be connected with display functionality...a bad amp will cause the climate control to function incorrectly, but it won't cause the display to freeze.

I suspect it's an electronic issue in the control unit itself. Maybe that's what they mean...it would explain the price more than just an amp replacement.

Since there aren't any aftermarket parts for the climate control module, your only cheaper option is to find a used one.
