Hi All,

I noticed in the past few months that immediately after driving my car around town, the relay box in the engine compartment (passenger side) would be really hot. In fact, if you put your hand on the exterior of the hood, right above the relay box, it will be too hot to touch. It stays this way for at least 45 minutes. I'm afraid of even getting near this box with the hood opened, to be honest.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal? If not, what are some things I should be looking for if I were to open the relay box? Thanks.

Well a lot of the heat is going to come from the engine, so the relay box will get hot from the engine running over a period of time.

If it seems more focused to just the relay box though, then does it have any aftermarket add-ons wired in? Subwoofer amp, fog lights, anti-theft system, ect? Someone could have wired something in wrong.

You can also check what relays and fuses are supposed to be in each location. It's possible that someone put an incorrect fuse or relay in the vehicle, which would also cause things to get too hot possibly.
