I have a base 02 Q45 and really want a backup camera. In a perfect world, I want it to display on the built in screen. I know the OEM system runs through the NAV which I don't have. Any ideas or suggestions? I am vaguely considering buying all the NAV and camera parts from ebay and installing them, but I really really don't want to run the wiring myself. Does anyone know if the harnesses are installed on all models, or if wiring is only specifically installed on the NAV models?

This has become a higher priority issue for me. Three weeks after buying my prized Q, my wife backed into a Wendy's and did $3k of body damage to the driver's rear quarter panel, rear bumper cover and trunk lid. Its now in the shop for 2 weeks.

Thanks for any help.

Go to pepboys and get a 39 dolla add on system. I find it hard to understand why people cant turn their neck and actually look before reversing.....somehow we managed to do it for almost 100 years of driving before backup cams became available?

Buying the OEM camera and installation accessories is the way to go if you have the FSM. Installation shouldn't be extremely difficult but will require you not be afraid to take apart your display to incorporate the additional wiring. You will also need to run the wires to the back of your car too. However, you will need the FSM to determine which wiring accessories you need to purchase and install to add in the OEM Back-Up camera system. How much this will cost is a different story. It seems to me that aftermarket Back-Up Sensors would an excellent alternative.
