I have a base model 02 Q, so no backup camera. I'd like to install one and was wondering if Nissan built these with all the wiring in place as standard so that all I would have to do is buy the camera and plug it in to an existing and stock harness, then it will work exactly as if it was original. Does anyone know?

Also, am considering upgrading to better brake pads - any suggestions? Thanks.

I don't know for sure, but I'd be surprised if they made it "plug-n-play" on the camera. If I remember correctly the dash display they used is different depending on if you have navigation or not. Do you know if the camera was part of a navigation-only package?

Thanks. I think you are right. The more I dig into this, the more it looks like that the camera was indeed part of the Navi system and won't work on a standalone basis.

Just go with a quality aftermarket system and tap into the OEM display monitor. You might alway wish to consider installing back-up sensors too. Unless you can get an advanced aftermarket back-up camera.
