I read different comments mentioning that the dash on the F50 is known to split at the seam that runs in the middle of the dash. Is this a common problem reckognized by Infiniti? Is there any recourse if this were to happen to an owner?

What color of dash do you have. There is a vynil kit you can by at Pepboys it is like silicon. Make sure you apply some protectant on it.

The dash splitting and cracking is without a doubt a result of mediocre dash composite. Many of the '02-06 Q45 and FX45 will experience hairline and wider cracks in the dash. If you take a close look at your F50 dash you will most likely see one or two hairline cracks near the windshield or around the speaker grills.

It's amazing to see problems repeat themselves... cracked dashes were common in the 70's and 80's - but the 90-96Q's dash won't crack unless you beat it with a hammer!

Seems like once a manufacturer figures out how to make something right, they would just keep doing that. I wonder if it's cost cutting or environmental restrictions that caused the problem?

Cost cutting because Infiniti saw that the Q wasn't selling so the said the hell with it why don't we save as much money as we can, Rather than going all out on on the last gen Q's, that's till they release the 2010 Q45's.

A new dash and install will probably cost about a 3rd of the Q45's value too. This minor but very expensive issues with many Infinities is a damn shame. If you were to look at the F50 dash you would never believe that such a gorgeous specimen would develop cracks in 3-5 years.

Likely cheaper to take the original one out and have a shop reupholster it with nicer and better material.

99% of the 2002-2006 Q45 on the road will likely develop the infamous dash board cracks. :tisk: Does anyone know if Infiniti extended the FX dash board replacement warranty to the F50 (Q45)?
