Exactly my thoughts too. I would go with the LS in a heart beat!seldomseen wrote:Spend the extra money and get an '04+ Lexus LS. It's a boring a** car to drive but is much more reliable than Infiniti's Q45. The F50/Q45 isn't a "quiet" driving luxury sedan and the Lexus fit and finish is slightly better. You may experience dash cracking on the Q45, premature leather wear/tear, electronics failure etc amongst many other things.
Well said. I've been in a few of them and it's a great car! I was looking to purchase the 2000 LS400 before I purchased my car. The large front end clip with the HID's...I still love that model but I haven't had ANY complaints with my Y33 though.qship96 wrote:Sorry to say, but the Lexus LS is so much more car than the 02-06 Q45. Overall, the LS feels like you stepped up an entire class of vehicle compared to the F50 Q. Better materials,fit/finish, isolation, ride quality, build quality, everything. Only downside is it is soo smooth and isolated, it is boring to drive like a racer.
True...it took the dealership nearly two weeks to get a hub bearing for my Q45...qship96 wrote:If you plan on keeping the car til it is 10,15,20 years old- the LS will be MUCH MUCH easier to obtain parts for from the boneyard compared to the 02-06Q.....just look at how many LS were sold in USA compared to Q.
Funny you say that since the RL is just a luxurious Accord. Not really any better off than the M. At least the M has real RWD and a V8.nuck wrote:The M is sort of nice but just reminds me of a bigger G and I don't get the luxury feel. I would consider an Acura RL before that.Anyone know how common the oil consumption issues are on the Q?
C'mon...this statement is sheer absurdity!qship96 wrote:Wes,you are talking about the g50, we were commenting on the 02-06 F50, which really feels not much more than a bloated Altima.
Being fun to drive and performance orientation is the only thing Infiniti has going for itself though. If Infiniti added more quality to their cars they would be in excellent shape. Common problems seem to carry over from year to year with Infiniti's cars, and for the price folks shell out to drive them---it's unacceptable.konatown wrote:Well, I have extreme first hand knowledge of the Lexus.
Yes, it has good reliability on the mechanical. But Laser Cruise and Sonar Sensors are entirely too common a failure for me to be comfortable with.
Driving the LS is more effective than 30 dosings of Ambien. Steering is completely numb, no effort and feed back so faint it may as well not be there. The ride is not quite but akin to a Buick Century. The motor is completely muted and you'll never get that grin when you goose it on a free-way on-ramp. Never.
At best the LS is a fantastic A-B car and nothing more. If you ever want to have a thrill in a car, the LS is the exact opposite of what you're looking for. This car has no soul; the biggest disappointment a car can ever have, in my eyes.
There is a reason that Lexus has one of highest ages of ownership on average.

And don't forget the styling which is only rivaled by Jaguar's new vehicles.seldomseen wrote:

Should have gone with Joe of even after market of top quality.seldomseen wrote:

And hope your mechanic is the best looking blonde female you've ever seen because she will be screwing you often!MinisterofDOOM wrote:Skip them both and get an A8 or a 7-series.
I have had a couple of Audi's and a Jaguar XJR so I know about getting the shaft off of warranty. They were all very good cars but the parts were obscenely expensive. Gotta have the NAVI though. Is there a history of issues with that?Q45tech wrote:Whichever brand you buy, make sure you can purchase the 7 year [until 2011] /100k oem extended warranty or survey all local junkyards for wrecks of the same model and year.
The electronics are so very expensive mult thousands just for parts.
Heck the 1990Q had $7,000 in electronic modules and new ones may have $14,000 [dealer msrp].
Avoid NAV to lessen potential.
