A local parts swapper out here had a '01 xterra towed into his shop and replaced the fuel pump (along with controller and relay I think) and the truck still will not run. I don't think he did any diagnostics on the truck, but now he is claiming that the factory fuel pump he put in must be bad. I really doubt this, but I have not actually seen the truck on my own. I don't even know if he checked for 12V at the pump. Any ideas?

a very common failure is the sending unit. you know, the pump is attached to it and in the tank then the harness plugs up to the top of it. the problematic part is that the pins corrode so you have 12v going to the sending unit and not making its way to the pump. its bad enough that nissan has a recall on some frontier and xterra sending units.
