So I think I must have done something but I cant figure it out.

I changed my spark plugs and air filter on my 01 Qx4. Did not remove the throttle body to change the plugs, only had to remove the iacv and the coils and thats it. I overlooked all my connections again and everything seems straight

BUT.. When my car is running, the temp gauge goes and pegs hot, even if the car is cold. I dont know if its a coincidence that I just changed my plugs or what, but Id like the gauge to read proper. What would cause it to peg hot?? Some unplugged sensor??

Check the connection at the Coolant Temperature Sensor. Maybe it got knocked loose or some other issue.

I cant find the location of that sensor, can you point me to it.

I found something else out today, the temp needle doesnt peg hot, it starts out @ 1/2 way up, then pegs hot when it warms up, like half way up the gauge is its new starting point......

Weird.. Id really like to fix it though

Check out page EM-11 in the factory service manual - located at www.nicoclub.com/FSM/ - for the location of the sensor. There are two coolant temperature sensors, one for the ECU and one for the gauge on the dash. EL-108 shows the resistance you should see coming from the sensor if you measure it with an ohm meter.
