Hi,

I'm trying to figure out what cause my steering wheel to vibrate at high speed(50+ mph). I just had my tires balance and rotate, but it didn't help. I might try to have the wheels alignment, but I'm not sure it's gonna fix the problem.

the problem you described sounds a lot like something in the wheels. Like bent rims... out of balance tires.... but it could also be something in the front drivetrain like the axles or front driveshaft?

You need to read this TSB: http://www.gwcustom.com/mirror/ITB00-049.pdf

I've also heard of people replacing the front wheel bearings which also solved the steering wheel shake. See this walk through of an Xterra, it should give some good insight: http://rkrenn.com/xterra/howto/bearing/bearing.htm

Good luck!
