Hey, just bought an 01 QX4.

Noticed tonight that I couldnt find a switch for my foglights. How do you turn them on?

Only thing I noticed was that to turn on my headlights there are 4 positions, was thinking maybe the fogs were supposed to turn on when you clicked it over to the 4th but they never did.

Maybe mine just arent working. Is there a way to trouble shoot?

The headlights have a height adjustment. The fogs turn on with the ring on the headlight stalk. Just turn it to on, or off.

Headlight low beams MUST be on for fogs to work. They won't work with parking lights, and won't work with high beams.

This can be fixed though -- see my signature pic.

oOhhhhhh

I found the little ring, it works, but only the drivers side turns on the white light, and on the passenger light, its lighting up the ORANGE blinker light and the foglight doesnt come on! Bulb or wiring problem?

turn the turn signal on and see if the fog light flashes. if so, someone was an goofball and switched the fog light with the blinker

By the way, with the factory fog light, I coul not see much light when it was turned on. I replaced them with Silverstar bulbs. Now it is much better. However, it is still not as good as my RX300 fog light.

I am not sure if Silverstar is better or not when it is really foggy. I contacted their tech support, discussed about light wavelength for the fog penetration efficiency, etc., and decided to try it...

I like the way silverstars look but you will learn that they last about 6-8 months, and one will burn out within a week of the other. They are very predictable.

hey KoukiS14,

did you rewire the fogs according to teh tech article they have posted on Nico? or did you go a diff route? I'm thinking of doing the same, but i'm trying to look for the easiest way =D

the proper way is to open up the relay, solder a wire in, and then neatly close up the relay and hook the wire up to a 12v source that is only hot when the car is on i say proper, because this is the way to get your foglights to turn off when you turn the car off if you solder that wire, but just go to a constant 12v source then you risk forgetting that you had the fogs on and draining your battery

Thats the easiest way, unfortunately.

it's actually easy. . I did it both ways, but the way fueler described is best.I drained my battery doing it the other way
