1st of all...great site. I fell upon it when researching my 'death sway'. I'm originally from Southern California, but have been in Canada for the last year. So, I'm hoping to resolve the Death Sway as soon as I replace the rear lower control arms. The sway made for a hairy drive in April from O.C. to Saskatchewan, Canada.Next on the agenda is this clunk noise that comes from the front end. It typically happens when I have to crank the wheel all the way to either side....backing out of a parking stall for example. When the wheel is straighting back and i'm moving forward the 'clunk' noise occurs. It happens just once. We appreciate any help, suggestions, etc. Jason2001 QX4 2WD

I am currently having this same exact issue! I thought it was somewhat normal, but if it's a problem then I guess I should be concerned.

I would be interested to see if anybody has any idea as to what it could be.

Sounds like the same clunk I had. Turns out when I bought my Q they had replaced the swaybar links. The nut on the LF had come loose and had some play. From what I've read on this forum the links tend to go over time. Just get both replaced at the same time. The parts are pretty cheap, and if your the DIY kind of guy, they look like there pretty easy to replace.

The 'death sway' seems to be a common problem caused by the bushings in the lower contorl arms.My sway occurs typically at 70mph+ and when laying off the gas. Truck starts swaying from side to side...can be a bit of a wild ride.

It can also be cause by worn out trailing arm bushings. I had it really really bad, it even freaked out my underbody mechanic. Replacing the trailing arm bushings fixed it 100%.
