 Okay i am a new member and this is my first post, so my apologies if this has been discussed already. A couple of months ago I replaced the MAF sensor on my daughters 01 pathfinder. It helped somewhat, but it never fixed all of the problems. It started running poorly again and started stalling out. Someone recommended that I check the voltage and ground for the MAF. I did this last night and found that I had no voltage going to the sensor. Not able to find any damaged fusible links, relays or wires. Here's the kicker after checking everything, now it won't start at all. It turns over, but no fire. Not sure if I shorted something out or what, but it is not good. I cant tell if i can smell the dreaded scent of cooked electronics from the dash or if it is just paranoia...they tend to both smell the same to me. All of the other systems seem to be fine. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Assuming you have the P0100 (MAF) engine code, try following the diagnosis procedure beginning with step 2 on page EC-17 of the factory service manual as best as you can. If you reach a step that is not feasible for you to do, post back here with your findings and we'll continue from there.

Thanks, Towncivilian! I am going through this step by step. May take a while! I confirmed today that I am getting no fuel and no spark and that all my relays are operational. I need to get longer meter leads from work to do the continuity checks for the ECM, so I am done for the day. Thanks for the help! I will keep you posted.

Just a thought - I once ran into a scare of trying to start my Qx4 with a key that seemed to have a dead "RFID" chip.
I bought my Qx4 used and while rummaging around the truck, I found a spare key hidden under the bumper. I never tried to use it, other than this one day I was in a rush out of the house and grabbed the "spare key". The engine would only crank, but it would not fire up. It was a healthy and consistent crank (ie. no stuttering and no change in the cranking sound)

Have you tried another key you know works?
Though I'm not sure how much of the electronics are disabled by a bad RFID chip (ie. not sure if it affects MAF voltage, spark, fuel pump, etc?)

anyway - just offering another possibility

If the key's chip was not working properly or missing, the "SECURITY" indicator LED under the driver's side air vent would be flashing after a failed attempt at cranking. Perhaps your key (donald) is just a spare intended to open the doors in case the ignition key were locked inside?

Yeah I was hoping it was that also, but the security light turns off when the key is in the on position (even after a failed start), which from what I read, means that is not the issue. Good news is that a son of a friend of a friend of mine is a mechanic with an OBDII. He is stopping by tomorrow to pull all of the codes and hopefully the codes will lead me to the real culprit.if I can pinpoint the problem I can fix it. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks again and keep the suggestion coming!

Code reader showed DTC P1335 so I replaced the crankshaft position sensor last night. I cleared the code and still can't get it to start. After a few more attempts I checked the codes again and the DTC 1335 is back. If it ever stops raining I will pull the harness connectors and start checking for short/open circuits.
Also getting a code for the MAP sensor.
