'01 Pathfinder throwing P0138 and has "pending" P0139

SES light popped on while driving on the freeway yesterday, I was cruising around 75mph. Crap, not again..

I have a OBDII hand held tester, thanks to you guys here on this forum recommending I get one last year. I plugged it in when I got home and the following codes displayed.

Code Data: P0138 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Circuit High Input (Rich Shift)

Pending Code: P0139 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Slow Response

I have a shop manual and have kind of figured out which ones are the players however, I don't have any part numbers. I plan to do the job myself. Can't be that hard right?

Anyone have a good part number for these O2 sensors?

Oh yeah, I'm due an Emissions check the first week in April which I'll fail if I don't get this done pretty darn quick.

Update: It's done and I did it, Sorry, no photos...

I finished up on the O2 sensor, bank 1 sensor 2. All in all it wasn't that bad, it took me about 2.5 hours and half of that was me trying to get the last clip into place. That one was a biach. I didn't get it in, just cable tied it to the transmission tube. That'll do.

I was able to put the Pathfinder up on a lift so that helped a lot. But it wouldn't be too bad if it was only just jacked up on one side so, don't let that stop anyone from tackling it.

I'm due an emissions check in March so I ended up going to the dealer for the part, they charged me $188 for the sensor. Crap....

Hint: Make sure when you order one that you use your VIN number so you get the right one especially since 98-01 use different connectors.

Mine had (3) clips that easily pried out with a screwdriver. There are two clips under the hood, right side of the intake where the connector is and one just behind on the manifold and one is behind the engine down just far enough that you can't reach it with your fingers from the top or from the bottom.

When all the clips were removed from the bad sensor I used a 22mm open end on the sensor and yanked it hard. It came loose the first time. Unscrewed it and let it hang.

I then disconnected the old sensor from it's connector up top and got back under and I used duct tape to join the the new connector to the old O2 sensor.

Since these now are connected I got back up top and pulled and snaked the new connector up through all the crap behind the engine. You have to go easy, it's not a clear path. A powerful flash light helps and real skinny fingers wouldn't hurt either. I pulled until the new connector was approximatly in the same place as the old. I untaped the two at this point. Got back under and screwed the new sensor in and yes, I didn't forget the Anti-seize for the threads and then went to work on the clips.

The top two were easy, just push them in the holes. The bottom clip was a bear, like I said before, I spent a good hour and a half trying to get that one in the hole but ended up cable-tying it to the transmission dipstick tube which was pretty darn close to the original position. I'm satisfied.

I followed the Service Bulletin and took it into the dealer for a ECU re-flash. After about 20 minutes they called and told me it already had the needed upgraded program so, they cleared the code and told me if I would do the "Drive Cycle" they wouldn't charge me. Bonus.

I plugged my OBDII tester in, set it in the cup holder and got on the road. I drove down the freeway for about 25 minutes, exited and pulled into a Micky D's for a cup of coffee. I then got on my way home. I would glance at the tester and watched each of the monitor icons stop flashing and finally the little green light lit up... Whooo hooooo.... Ready for emissions check.
