01 pathfinder shifl interlock question

my wifes 01 pathfinder is hard to get into reverse. i have the console apart and can see that the solenoid isn't moving. i hear clicking when brake pedal is pressed. how do i know if the pedal switch is out or if it is the shift solenoid?Thanks.

If your hearing a click when stepping on the brake that means the switch is sending the signal to the solonoid and at least internally it is moving since your hearing it. It really possible she spilt something like coffe or soda down there and it got in the solonoid causing the pintle to stick. We se this alot in service. Either replace it or take it out and clean it.
