Hey, I have a 2001 Pathfinder that I bought a few months ago. When I got it it had a blown head gasket, I rebuilt it from the block up and everything worked great. Fired first try every time and drove without overheating. Recently I went to move it and it does not start anymore. I have tested the crank sensor, cam sensor, intake valve position sensor, IACV, fuel pump works and at the correct pressure and all of the fuses and relays are good. If I spray stater fluid in it fires up, and I do have spark. The CEL was on before this but it was an 02 sensor and a knock sensor which I know is related to the head gasket not this issue. I suspect it is not getting an Injector pulse signal. Is there a way to test the PCM before replacing it? Is there anything that could be causing this? It ran great before this, and I'm not sure where to go from here. Any help is appreciated.

You have checked the usual suspects, the only thing you did not mention was the coolant temp sensor. Can you put a scanner on it and make sure the sensor is reporting the correct temp? A bad one causes too rich / too lean mixture for starting.

The cam position sensor on the front of the timing cover throws the signal to the PCM that determines injector timing. If the sensor fails, the injectors shut off. But it usually throws a code 340, altho not always.

Have you rechecked your codes? Do you have voltage to the sensor? Did you check fuses in the underhood fuse box? Is the check engine light coming on when you turn the key to the on position? Does the security light quit blinking when the key is turned to on?

If you have a good scan tool you can check injector pulse width, otherwise the injectors are buried on these engines. About all I can think of is checking injector signal at the wiring harness either at the PCM or on the firewall connector.

I'm just throwing out whatever I can think of - it is pretty unusual for a PCM to die while sitting.

Update with the problem solved. After extensive testing and evaluation, including having some available electrical engineers desolder and resolder some parts on my ecu it turns out the problem was a not fully engaged plug for the injector harness. After the head job I applied dielectric grease to every connector and this acted like a glue keeping the connection together until it wiggled looso. It was a total luck of chance in finding it. Always check the obvious and most recently serviced items is the take away from this. I have since mad a whole new sheet metal bimper and gotten new wheels and tires for the truck. Look for an update soon.
