01 Pathfinder Bose CD changer(yet again)

Has anyone replaced this changer with another brand without completely replacing the entire Bose system? Every forum I've seen says this unit is pure trash. Even fresh repairs have a high failure rate, and they are costly. The 01 QX4 seems to use the same rear mount changer that the Q45 uses. Is this one plug compatible with the bose radio? Is the QX4 head unit plug compatible with the Pathfinder Bose amps? Any ideas and experience would be most welcome.

I spent a lot of time several months ago trying to replace the changer with another brand in my 01 Pathfinder. Everyone I talked to said the same thing. The Bose system will not accept another changer. I finally took it out and sent it back to Clarion and they fixed it for $110. It has been working fine ever since.
