Hello all; glad to have found this site. I've recently taken over our family’s pathfinder. Has 223k miles. Seems to still run well with a few bugs. Hopefully I can find some good info here to work out some bugs.

First, I have to replace the fan clutch; it's wobbly, squealing, and engages whenever it feels like it. Any thoughts on aftermarket fan clutches versus OEM from dealer?

Does the '01 3.5LE automatically put me in a VQ35DE? How can I verify?

Some of the quirks.

I've noticed that sitting idle, I'm at approximately 750 RPM. On the highway at 65 mph, I'm at approximately 2250 RPM. Is this right? It seems a little high to me. Any common issues with idle control that I can look into?

Power seats are a hit and miss on controls. Shifter doesn't always get disengaged when I press on the brake to shift from P. I usually have hit the brake pedal a few times, then I'm able to shift into gear. Squealing rear brakes. I'll dig through threads and see what I can find. If anyone can pass along some good info, I'd much appreciate it.

Thanks.

Couple of quick answers.
The 3.5 engine, starting in the 2001model year, is the VQ engine.
Some things changed in the ensuing years, like different (better) coil packs, MAF sensor and other stuff, but the guts of the engine is basically the same from 2001 and on.
Having said that, there are differences between this engine in a Pathfinder vs. say, an infiniti g35. Different cylinder head design mostly.
There is also a difference in the R50 engine between an automatic and a standard. Stuff like that.

The running speed at 65MPH you indicated is correct.

As for the getting-it-out-of-park thing, the shift solenoid may be misadjusted or going bad.
You should hear a clicking sound in the centre console everytime you step on the brake pedal.

Thanks, Buzzman.

Here's another quirk: the driver's rear door mechaninism doesn't work and can't open door, at all. Both handles, inner and outer, don't work.

Will have to figure out a way to pull off door panel with door shut.

Go figure....
