Welcome to NICO.
Make sure the battery connections are clean and tight and that the battery voltage is >12.5 VDC with engine off. Anything less than that indicates a weak battery. As for the engine 'dying' at lights, it could be fuel delivery problem - clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump. You need a fuel pressure gauge T-ed between the fuel filter and fuel rail and reads 34 PSI with engine running and 43 PSI with Ignition ON but engine OFF (limited to 5 secs). Check the condition of the air filter and replace as necessary. You might as well clean the Throttle Body (do not spray cleaner directly into the TB, use rag instead for cleaning).
As for the shifting issue, when was the last transmission service? Check level and color of ATF (pinkish red when new). Replace/flush if dirty or if ATF has a burnt smell. Better do a pan drop and clean magnets and pan and check condition of transmission filter, replace as necessary.
To be on the safe side, have a free OBD II scan from Autozone and the likes to find out if you have any trouble code.
