So does this car have a fuel filter? I have been reading all kinds of threads on here and the org. and everyone seems to have a different opinion. If I do have a fuel filter I think it needs to be changed (sluggish performance, horrible gas mileage, etc.) and if I do have a fuel filter where is it located and how do I change it?????? thanks

Yes your car has a fuel filter. If you plan on keeping this car you should go out and get a work manual for it. Haynes has one and others do too. The Haynes one is pretty good for the "do it yourselfer".

But the Fuel filter is mounted on the firewall. near the brake master cylinder, just lower down. Its a silver canister that will look like this.It is very easy to change and you should be able to do it in 20 min our less. http://www.autopartswarehouse.....html

of course you have a fuel filter. on 95-99 maximas it's on the right side of the firewall so look there. some cars have them mounted underneath on the frame rail. i don't know about yours but i bet it's still inside the engine compartment.

**** son...you're ****ed. it's not on the firewall but in the fuelpump assembly inside the tank. here's the fsm: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/2001/FE.pdf

Yep your right Allensteiner.. I just thought in 01 since they were still using the same VQ30 in the car that not alot of that stuff would have changed. That sucks man! I read a thread on here once on how to change it in an 03. Looks like the same settup. The seat slides out of some clips and the pump should be right there under the seat. goodluck!!!

I have 245 on my 18's and yes I have as well. some people have comented that their car has had a really hard time keeping an alignment after they got bigger wheel/tire setups but mine have been fine. just poorer gas mileage.

issue?...if you call the car drifting uncontrollably when one wheel hits a rut...yes they sure drive diferent but handle a lot nicer when cornering. as for the mileage my odo is broken so i can't figure out what i get. i just filled up and drive 25 miles to work and back one day so i'll just have to see how many days i get out of a tank.

19's, wow. i got 245/45/17 so 2" smaller - that might be your fuel loss too. did you get bigger brake rotors? i noticed it's harder to slow down than with stock 205/15".

got pics?

Do tell, mine is in need of this as well. I figure it looks to be about an hour or so job. Just right for a little afternoon challenge...--Mike

you're right. it's called i30 because of vq30 and i35 because vq35.

yup Infiniti throws the engine size in the name of the car. Hence the FX34/45, G35, QX56..etc..

Yeah they are super dope they turn heads everywhere I go. True 3 Piece wheels let alone Lexani is def a head turner, it just suck that they are so heavy, have had some issue with brakes, gas, alignment, etc. I guess thats the price you pay to look good. I got my car lowered now with projector headlights and a lip spoiler and clear fronts so it looks real clean.

Here is a how to link its for an 2k2 but I think it's the same or close to the same set up. Good luck though it looks kind of tough.
