Am getting a code P0171B and P0172B Dealer tells me I need a new $700 mass air flow sensor? Does this make sense or could it be something else. Car has 90,000 miles.

First try these things before you drop 700 on a MAF.

1. Go to parts store and get some MAF cleaner, comes in a aerosol can.2. Take MAF off and clean it.3. Check for possible cracks in the intake tube or an loose vacuum hoses around the intake.4. Go to autozone have them reset your CEL.5. Drive around for awhile, see if the light comes back on.6. If it does, now try changing out the oxygen sensor(primary) on exhaust manifold.7. Repeat steps 4 and 5.8. If it comes back on again, more than likely the MAF will need to be replaced.

MAF and oxygen sensors cause rich and lean conditions for motors, which is exactly what those codes mean, fuel system to lean bank 1 and fuel system to rich bank 1.

You may also want to check the MAF voltages.zerothread/145721

Post back with your resutls.
